About Us

We have both been involved in skiing for a long time and have an impressive range of experience and qualifications. These have generated a lot of enthusiasm for skiing and the outdoor life, which we hope to share with you when you visit us at Chalet Anna.

Our motto is: "It's the things in life that you don't do that you regret!". After 20+ years in the teaching profession we decided to start a new venture. We pride ourselves on being flexible and adaptable, which enables us to respond to individual needs and requests.

Andy was London born to a Swiss dad and Scottish mum. He has always been very involved in sports and ran for London schools whilst at school. He studied economics at University and went on to teach:  Economics, Maths and games, most recently at a boys’ grammar school in Medway, Kent – where he was Assistant Headteacher. In 1984 he went on his first ski trip with the school to Austria and became hooked. In the 1990’s he coached the school race team, who became national champions for four years in succession.  From then on he led school ski trips and in 1995 he trained as a ski instructor at the local dry ski slope in Chatham, Kent where he worked till 2006. Over the years Andy has achieved the Ski Course Organisers Certificates (S.C.O.) Parts 1 and 2, completed the A.S.S.I. training, and in 1997 he was the first teacher in Kent to be awarded the Ski Leader Certificate. Andy has also been a member and secretary of the Kent Schools Ski Association. In October 2009 Andy qualified as an Austrian ski instructor (www.sbssv.at).
Andy is also a very keen golfer (handicap currently 15) and cyclist.

Heather was born in Sheffield to a German mum and an English dad, but the family then spent the rest of her childhood living in Africa, Hong Kong, Germany etc before settling in Kent.
Heather trained to be a primary school teacher, and most recently was Headteacher of a school in Medway, Kent.
Heather’s first ski trip was in 1986 to Bulgaria with a school group. It took a while for her to become hooked (“I can’t do it!!”), but eventually found herself so involved that she led primary school ski trips to Austria for over 12 years. Heather also has S.C.O. Certificates Part 1 and 2 and was the second teacher in Kent to get the Ski Leader certificate in 1997.
In 1995, Heather trained to be a ski instructor at the same local dry ski slope as Andy and worked there till 2006. Heather has also been a member and chairman of the Kent Schools Ski Association. In October 2009 Heather qualified as an Austrian ski instructor (www.sbssv.at).

Both of us have skied in Norway, America, Italy, France, Switzerland, and Andorra, but Austria is our favourite ski destination. We love the atmosphere, the cleanliness and friendly locals.  We hope you love it too!

About the Chalet

Chalet Anna is a comfortable, spacious house, built on three levels. Guests often comment that it is like a "home from home" and that they feel like a friend or family member from the moment that they walk through the door. The four guests bedrooms are all fully ensuite and consist of three twins and one double bedded room. There is a lot of storage space and the rooms are light, airy and decorated in a contemporary Austrian style. There is a proper cot for babies and other baby / toddler equipment. The rest of the house is also tastefully decorated and consists of a living room (with enough seating for everyone and traditional wood burning Kachelöffen), seperate dining room, guest tea kitchen, boot room (with electric boot warmer) /games room and a large garden. The garden and three balconies are south facing.

Chalet Anna is situated in the friendly working village of Uttendorf. The chalet is two minutes walk from the shops, bars and restaurants and banks - and is five minutes walk from the ski hire shop (although we take you to ski fit in our minibus). The village is in the valley. Nearby towns of Zell am See and Mittersill are easily accessible by bus, or alpine train.

For skiing we access the ski resorts of Kitzbühel, Saalbach Hinterglemm, Neukirchen, Zell am See, Kaprun, Kitzsteinhorn glacier, and Weissee glacier (see Links for websites for these resorts). Our central location means that these areas are skiable without paying the heafty prices of staying in Kitzbüel or Zell am See.
